History

Leamington Hockey Club was formed in 1993 as The Problems. The club from the Warwickshire area has grown in recent years from a single Mens XI to 3 Mens XI and now 4 Ladies XI teams competing in their respective Midlands Leagues.

The club participates in a couple of tours every year. Recent tours have been to Blackpool, Weston Super-Mare, Rickmansworth [every year] Bloemandahl and Strawberrys, in Holland and Weymouth!

The clubs’ logo, with the words “Carpe Cerevisi” means “Seize the beer!”.

In the 1998/99 season Leamington Hockey Clubs’ Mens 1′s won the DTZ Debenham Thorpe Division 3 West Championship. The Mens 1′s remained unbeaten in that season amassing 118 goals, conceding only 10, winning 15, drawing 3 and losing no games at all. The same team even recorded a 26-0 win, with Colin Clarke grabbing 17 goals, a club record in one game!

The 2006/7 season saw our Ladies 1′s win the Warwickshire Womens Hockey League Division 1 title and subsequently were promoted to the Midlands Conference. The Mens's 1's and the Ladies 2's were also promoted from their respective divisions.

The 2008/2009 season saw the Ladies 3′s win their league only losing 1 game and drawing another!

The 2009/10 season saw the Ladies section expand to 4 teams and Leamington brought in experienced coaches Bryan Frazer and Sukhdev Dhesi on initial 2 year contracts.

In January 2010, Leamington Hockey Club finally arrived back into Leamington, at a brand new astro pitch at North Leamington School. The season culminated in both the Ladies 1′s and Men’s 3′s being promoted as Champions, with the Men’s 1′s being promoted as runners-up.

In the 2010/2011 season, the Ladies 1's had the best defensive record in the Midlands Division 2, coming in at a solid 3rd place after promotion into the division only last year. 

We're all looking forward to the 2011-12 season, with our new Clubhouse location at Leamington Rugby Club's Moorefields ground!
